Apple Shutdown All stores across the Globe Except China because of COVID 19. We all know about all the recent happenings in the world, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is fast spreading and all the countries are making efforts to eradicate it.
This virus was transmitted from animals to humans. It is said to be a family of viruses that cause illness ranging from cold to severe diseases. COVID-19 was said to likely come from a seafood market in Wuhan, China where wildlife are traded illegally.
Symptoms of this virus include:
- Running nose
- Sore throat
- Difficulty in breathing
How the Coronavirus Spreads
The main method of transmission of COVID-19 is person-to-person contact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). With the fast rate of transmission, it is advised to always use a nose mask, wash your hand often, avoid touching your mouth, eyes or nose with your hand, and also social distancing.
Apple Shutdown All Store Across the Globe, Except in China.
As a protective measure against the disease, Apple shutdown all apple stores worldwide, except in China. All Apple stores outside China are to close for the next two weeks, in order to fight against COVID-19 and reduce the transmission of the disease.
Apple said it believes that the most effective way that it can reduce the risk of the virus spreading, is by shutting down all Apple stores. This helps in reducing the risk of the virus spreading and increasing social distance. Apple also said that the reopening of the stores is on the 27th of March, 2020. And employees who are affected by this shutdown of stores will continue to receive their payment.
The shut down of Apple stores started in Italy as the COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading like wildfire in Italy. The shut down has been extended to all other Apple retail stores around the world, apart from China.
Will Pickups still be Available?
MacRumors notes that some Apple stores may remain partially open. Only for customers to pick up the items that they ordered previously. It is said that the stores were to remain open for limited opening hours. From the 14th of March to the 16th of March. To allow customers to collect their pending pickups.
Note: This does not apply to all Apple stores. Some customers have been told to wait till March 27th when the stores will reopen. To pick up their computers that were brought in for repair/service.
