Facebook Messenger is a social media platform owned by Facebook, it enables its users to communicate with friends and family. It’s a platform where you can be yourself with the people who matter most to you, either through a message, calls, video chat, or Messenger Room.
Messenger App Lock
This new Messenger update is enabled to increase security for users, and it comes with a multifaceted approach. The app lock feature includes Touch ID or faces recognition. This feature is only available on iOS right now, it will roll out to Android within the next few months.
How to Enable the Facebook Messenger App Lock (For iPhone and iPad users)
To enable the Messenger app lock is an easy thing to do, here is how to achieve that:
- Open your messenger app
- Click on your profile picture at the top left
- Select privacy
- In the privacy, select App Lock
- Select Require Face ID or Require Touch ID to turn on and off
- Choose when to lock messages after leaving the app
When you want to respond to calls or messages from Messenger, click on a notification, and then the app lock will ask for your Face ID or fingerprint.
Note: You can still see calls and message notifications from Messenger when it’s locked. However, you can turn off previews from Messenger, and also set up your device to let you reply to locked notifications without providing an ID. Also, this feature is only available to the iPhone and the iPad user now.
