Ghost of Tsushima is an action-adventure video game developed by Sucker Punch Production, published for PS4 by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It featured an open world for players to explore and revolves around one of the last samurai on Tsushima Island “Jin Sakai” during the first Mongol invasion in Japan in 1274.

This is an action-adventure stealth game played from a third-person perspective. Ghost of Tsushima features a large open world without any waypoint and it can be explored without guidance. Players can travel to different parts of the game’s world on a horse. An item that acts as a grappling hook will be available to access difficult areas to reach.

Ghost of Tsushima features side quests and non-playable character to interact with, players can engage in direct confrontation with enemies using weapons like katana, kunai, and stealth. Katana can also be used to chain up a series of fatal strikes after highlighting specific enemies. Alternatively, Stealth allows one to evade enemies and strike them silently, while kunai is for striking multiple enemies.

Ghost of Tsushima Game Plot

In 1274, a Mongolian invasion fleet led by “Khotun Khan” lands on the Japanese island of Tsushima. Jin joins with the rest of the island’s local samurai, led by “Lord Shimura”, in an attempt to repel the invasion. However, the battle ends in disaster, with Jin grievously wounded and left for dead, Lord Shimura captured, and the entire samurai army killed. Jin is found and nursed back to health by a local thief named “Yuna”, who informs him that most of Tsushima have already fallen to the Mongols. Jin then attempts to storm Khotun’s stronghold at Castle Kaneda, and rescue Lord Shimura, but couldn’t defeat Khotun in combat and is thrown from a bridge.

When Jin realized that he couldn’t defeat the Mongols alone or with the traditional fighting style,

he scoured the island to recruit allies. He also learned new fighting techniques to aid his quest to rescue Lord Shimura, He manages to recruit Yuna, Taka, Ishikawa, Masako, his old friend, and Ryuzo. Taka crafts a special climbing hook that will allow jin scale the walls of Castle Kaneda, Jin kills more and more Mongols, and was revered as the “Ghost of Tsushima”. Jin calls for his allies to commence the rescue mission and is able to free Lord Shimura and retake Castle Kaneda.

However, Jin continues to recruit more allies, such as the soldier of clan Yarikawa and Norio and his warrior monks. Despite the victory, Khotun had already left to conquer Lord Shimura’s castle. Meanwhile, Lord Shimura recruits “Goro’ to smuggle a message to the Shogun for reinforcements. However, Jin infiltrates the castle and sneaks poison in the Mongols’ food, but Khotun again has left to campaign further north.

Once again, Jin gathers his allies and assaults Khotun’s final stronghold in Port Izumi, and infiltrate the port and kill Khotun on his flagship.



Ghost of Tsushima was released for PS 4 on July 17, 2020. The release was delayed from its original June 26 release date due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Standard, special, digital, and a colletor’s edition, these are the editions. Each edition comes with different collectors’ items as well as, equipment, items, and unlocked abilities, in addition to a bonus for pre-ordering the game.
