Dune (named onscreen as Dune Part One) is a 2021 American grand wisdom fabrication film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the script with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth. It’s the first of a two-part adaption of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert.

Dune 2 Movie Review

Set in the distant future, the film follows Paul Atreides as his family, the noble House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and negative desert earth Arrakis.

The ensemble cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan- Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem.

The film is the third adaption of Dune following David Lynch’s 1984 film and John Harrison’s 2000 TV miniseries.

After an unprofitable attempt by Paramount Pictures to produce a new adaption, fabulous Entertainment acquired the Dune film and TV rights in 2016, with Villeneuve subscribing as director in February 2017.

product contracts were only secured for the first film, counting on its success before an effect would be greenlit. star photography took place from March to July 2019 at locales including Budapest, Jordan, Norway, and Abu Dhabi.

Dune was first listed for a late 2020 release, but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The film premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival on September 3, 2021, ahead of its transnational release on September 15; it was also released in United States theaters and streaming on HBO Max on October 22.

Dune 2 Box Office Sales

Dune was a box office success, earning$ 402 million on a$ 165 million budget. It was well entered by critics and cult, with praise for Villeneuve’s direction and script, visual goods, ambition, story, costume design, Hans Zimmer’s musical score, cinematography, and fastness to the source material; the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute named Dune as a top- 10 film of 2021.

Rather than try to acclimatize all of Dune into just one movie, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve revealed back in early 2018 that he plans to chronicle the events of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel across two pictures.

Because director Denis Villeneuve decided to acclimatize Dune as two pictures rather than one like David Lynch did in the ‘ 80s, this fall’s Dune will only chronicle the first half of Frank Herbert’s seminal sci-fi novel.

Dune 2, i.e. the movie probing into the alternate half of the original story, hasn’t been officially greenlit yet, although Villeneuve is auspicious that the effect will move forward. Not only that, the filmmaker has given some study to how this could stretch into a film trio. “ Dune messiah concluding the trio ”

Jon Spaihts also mentioned in his discussion with The Playlist that the Dune Messiah book, which was published in 1969, “ plays as an exemplary tale ” about subjects like “ blending religion and politics, the hazards of following attractive leaders, and the dangerous struggle that’s always alive between the individual and institutions. ”

So indeed though suckers of the first Dune novel no longer need to worry about that story going untreated as a big screen adaption under Denis Villeneuve’s vigilant eye, if a Messiah movie is greenlit, it’ll serve as a platform to deconstruct what unfolded in the antedating pictures.

The Dune Messiah

Dune Messiah is set 12 years after the events of Dune, and Jon Spaihts noted that it sets the stage for the Dune series to come “ foreigner and more grand as it carries on. ”

Because of that jump forward in time, it’s unclear if Denis Villeneuve would want to stay many times before diving Messiah, or if he’d move straight to it after Dune Part Two is finished.

It’s also worth pointing out that Messiah’s effect, 1976’s Children of Dune, follows along with select characters from the original Dune story.

The also Sci-Fi Channel inclusively acclimated Messiah and Children into one miniseries, but it’s hard to say if Villeneuve would include rudiments from Children in his interpretation of Messiah.

It may be a while before we learn if WarnerBros. and Legendary is interested in Denis Villeneuve making a Dune Messiah movie, but anyhow, the Dune property isn’t leaving our defenses anytime soon.

Regarding Dune Part Two, along with actors like Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Zendaya, all anticipated to return (with the ultimate two having expanded places as Chani and Stilgar, independently), casting reports for new characters have started coming by.

Dune 2 Release Date

Black Widow’s Florence Pugh is being eyed to play Princess Irulan Corrino, and Elvis star Austin Butler is in accommodations for the Feyd- Rautha part.

Meanwhile over on HBO Max, Dune The Sisterhood is in development, with the series exploring the Bene Cate previous to the events of Dune.

Dune Part Two is listed for October 20, 2023, but Dune The Sisterhood doesn’t have a release date yet.
