I Feel Pretty is a 2018 American comedy movie written and directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein. The movie tells of an insecure woman who, after suffering a head injury, gains extreme self-confidence and believes she is considerably attractive. However, the lessons that the movie tries so hard to pass was the very subject of self-confidence itself.

I Feel Pretty main onscreen character, Renee Barrett, is a young woman of average physical attractiveness, who struggles with insecurity over her appearance. After wishing at a fountain to be beautiful, inspired by the movie Big, without no positive output. The next day became an unforgettable day for Renne. She falls off her SoulCycle bike, hitting her head and losing consciousness. Despite no physical change took place, she wakes up seeing herself as a transformed woman. Unlike her, she starts seeing herself as a very beautiful woman.

With her new found confidence, she opens up to the world. She assumes Ethan, a man who harmlessly speak to, is hitting on her. Furthermore, insisting they exchange contacts.  CEO Avery LeClaire hires her as a receptionist after she being impressed by Renee’s attitude and idealistic admiration for the brand.

On Renee’s date with Ethan,  she participates in a “bikini body” contest against women with perfect figures. Though she could not win the contest, managed to win over the crowd. Ethan goes with Renne to her apartment and they had sex. Later on, She suffers a new head injury after a fall in the shower. Afterward, sees her real physical appearance. She returns to New York alone, feeling devasted. Immediately she breaks up Ethan, believing he would no longer find her attractive, leaving Ethan brokenhearted and confused.

However, Renne tries to recreate her initial injury at SoulCycle, but no result. She gets to talk with the beautiful Mallory, who was crying over being dumped. Mallory tells Renne how she struggles with low self-esteem and feels like people assume any beautiful woman is unintelligent. Upon realizing she was never transformed in the course of displaying her own before-and-after photos in a product launch she crashed. She gives an emotional speech about women accepting themselves as they are. Finally, she reconciles with Ethan.
