Joke Silva, a veteran actress, has spoken out about the health condition of her husband, Olu Jacobs.
After photographs of the legendary actor went popular on social media, there were reports that he was ill.
The actor hasn’t been in a film in a long time, but he was recently seen in public, appearing fragile, at the Africa International Film Festival Awards (AFRIFF) in Lagos.
Olu Jacobs has dementia with Lewy bodies, according to the actress in a recent interview
“This has been going on for a few years,” she says. My husband has been struggling with health troubles for a couple of years. It’s referred to as Lewy Body Dementia.
“It’s a degenerative disease that affects the brain, and it’s similar to Parkinson’s disease in that it affects both the brain and the person.”
She said it’s been difficult on her spouse, who doesn’t comprehend what’s going on, as well as family members.
“We’ve been through a lot in the last few years, but we’re grateful to God.”
“We’ve lately gone through some periods and situations when I wish I had the old you here so I didn’t have to deal with it alone, but we’re happy for the clarity.” I miss the times when we worked together.”
Olu Jacob who is currently 79 years old (born 11 July 1942) has been married to Joke Silva for 32 years and has 2 surviving children.
