She hs a younger sister named Natali and is brought up in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
From age 11, Gaga attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart (a private all-girls Roman Catholic school).
Gaga learned to play the piano by the age of 4 when her mother insisted she becomes “a cultured young woman”.
Throughout her childhood, she took piano lessons which taught her to create music by ear, which she preferred over reading sheet music.
As a teenager, she played at “open mic” nights, played the lead roles of Adelaide in the play “Guys and Dolls”. she also played Philia in the play “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at Regis High School.
In 2003, Gaga gained admission to Collaborative Arts Project 21, a music school at New York University Tisch of the Arts.
There she studied music and improved her songwriting skills by writing essays on social issues, art, politics, and religion, including a thesis on pop artists Spencer Tunick and Damien Hirst.
In 2007, at the age of 20,
Gaga began work on Interscope Records as a songwriter for other artists on the label, including Britney Spears, New Kids on the Block, and therefore the Pussycat Dolls.
R&B singer Akon discovered Gaga while she was performing a burlesque show that she created, called “Lady Gaga and therefore the Starlight Revue.”
Impressed, Akon signed the performer to his label under the Interscope umbrella, Kon Live. Through 2007 and 2008, Gaga wrote and recorded her debut album, The Fame.
The record received positive reviews and was successful within the US. With the assistance of her own creative team, “Haus of Gaga,” the performer also began to form a reputation for herself internationally.
