Mank – Review, Release Date, Cast, and Trailer


Mank is an upcoming American movie that is directed by David Fincher and that is based on a script written by Jack Fincher his father. The producers are Douglas Urbanski, Eric Roth, and Cean Chaffin.

The movie plot is mainly centered on Herman J. Mankiewicz (screenwriter) and his fight with Orson Welles (director) over the screenplay credit for Citizen Kane (1941).



David Fincher’s father Jack Fincher wrote the script of the movie in the 1990s and David had it in mind to film it after completing The Game in 1997. Well, all plans of David to film the movie went down and his father died in the year 2003.

However, in the end, the project was announced in July 2019. And the movie was filmed From November 2019 to February 2020 in Los Angeles.

Mank was announced officially in July 2019 just when David Fincher said he would be the director of the film together with Gary Oldman set to star. David Fincher’s father Jack Fincher wrote the screenplay of this film after which he died in the year 2003.

David Fincher was supposed to produce and release mank after The Game in 1997 with Kevin Spacey starring, but this didn’t come to pass. Although, the reason was because of the insistence of Fincher to shoot the film in black and white.

Also, the casting was announced in October, together with Amanda Seyfried, Tuppence Middleton, Lily Collins, Charles Dance, and Arliss Howard.

However, Fincher reunites with his filmmaking team and began filming in Los Angeles on the 1st of November, 2019. It as well took place in Victorville, California, and wrapped it on the 4th of February, 2020.

Mank Release Date


Mank is set to be released on the 13th of November 2020, in a limited theatrical release. Before you can now start streaming it on Netflix on the 4th of December, 2020. Mank got a lot of positive reviews from commentators,  who loved the production design, screenplay, as well as performances.
