Babatunde Omidina, also known as Baba Suwe is dead. After a long struggle with sickness, the renowned actor passed away on Monday. He was born on August 22, 1958.
He married comedienne Omoladun Omidina, who died in September 2009, Baba Suwe dominated the Yoruba film industry for decades, appearing in a number of films and winning numerous honors.
Baba Suwe died on Monday (November 22, 2021) at the age of 63.
Adesola Omidina, one of Baba Suwe’s sons, announced his father’s death on Instagram.
“This is to announce the sudden death of my father Mr. Babatunde Omiidina. The legend and rare gem “ Babasuwe “ 11/22/21. Other details will follow shortly! May your soul rest in perfect peace Dad. Signed: Adesola Omidina,” he wrote.
Baba Suwe became well-known for his comedic appearances in Yoruba-language Nollywood films.
In 2018, he fell ill, prompting other Nigerians, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to donate money to help pay for his medical treatment abroad.
