Pacific Rim Uprising Cast, Review and Video Trailer


Pacific Rim Uprising is an American science fiction film.It is the sequel to the first film of the same name, Pacific Rim released in 2013.

The film is directed by Steven S.Deknight which is his first debut as a director on a feature film. It is written by Steven Deknight, Kira Snyder, T.s Neowin and Emily Carmichael.The film is produced by John Boyega who is making his debut as a producer and he also stars in the film.


Guillermo Del Toro who directed the original in 2013 now serves as a producer. Additional producers of the film are Cale Boyter, Mary Parent Thomas Tull, Femi Oguns and John Jashni. The film is set in the year 2030, with humanity waging war with giant monsters known as the Kaiju neck bent on destroying the world.

The casting of the film was announced in June 2016 with John Boyega accepting the lead role. Shortly afterward, Scott Eastwood was in talks with an appearance in the film later that month. Further announcements were made in September and November that same year.However, Charlie Hunnam is notably missing from the project due to scheduling conflicts with King Arthur: Legend of the sword.

Filming And Photography

The filming and principal photography on the film began in November 2016 in Australia. The films principal character are the Jaegers with the title Pacific Rim Uprising revealed the next month. Additional Jaegers for the film was also suggested and revealed in March 2017. The Pacific Rim’s filming and set started in China before being completed in Australia.

Box Office

Pacific Rim debuted on March 23, 2018, and it has grossed 28 million in the United States and Canada. In other to be on level terms it has to gross at least 350 million worldwide. It was released alongside Sherlock Gnomes, Unsane and Midnight Sun. The film went on to debut 28 million in its opening weekend becoming the first film to dethrone Black Panther for the number one spot.

The film ranked first in Korea with an audience of over. In China, the film sits at number one grossing over 21.36 million on its first weekend. The production crew is planning to unleash a cinematic universe. The film will be expanded to a star trek and star trek style of franchise or series.
