The Curse of La Llorona is an upcoming American supernatural horror film. It is directed by Michael Chaves in his directorial debut. The movie screenplay was written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis.

The movie stars include Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velásquez, Raymond Cruz, and Marisol Ramirez as the titular La Llorona. It is scheduled to be released on the 19th of April 2019, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.

The Curse of La Llorona Movie Plot

The movie follows Anna Garcia who is a social worker. She is also a widow raising her two children in 1970s Los Angeles. Anna is called to check in on one of her cases then she finds signs of foul play. As Anna Garcia digs deeper, she finds striking similarities between the case. She also finds the terrifying supernatural occurrences haunting her family. Anna Garcia discovers that La Llorona has latched herself on to Anna and will stop at nothing to take her children.


La Llorona was also known as the Weeping Woman. She is a female ghost in Latin American folklore. She lost her children and due to that she causes misfortune to those nearby. As she searches for her children she takes other lost children. This movie is based on a true life story. It will be available in cinemas on the 19th of April 2019.
