The Harder They Fall, British director Jeymes Samuel’s feature debut, is a Western with a twist.
With a mostly Black cast – and one that is particularly star-studded – the Netflix movie intends to reimagine the genre, with Samuel previously telling The Guardian that he used to watch classic Westerns as a child and wonder, “Where are the Black people?”
The new film seeks to rectify this by narrating a fictional story about real-life Black wild west figures – including Nat Love, Stagecoach Mary, and Rufus Buck – as Love gathers his band for a bloody retribution expedition.
With Jay-Z on board as producer, positive early reviews, and an explosive trailer, the film looks poised to be a genuine treat – read on for all the details.
The Harder They Fall: Release Date
Samuel’s film had its global premiere at the London Film Festival on 6th October 2021 and will have a limited theatrical run in select UK theatres on Friday 22nd October 2021.
The film will then be accessible on Netflix less than two weeks later, on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021.

“Riding beside him in this assured, righteous new school Western are his former love Stagecoach Mary, his right and left-hand men — fiery Bill Pickett and quick-drawing Jim Beckwourth — and a startling adversary-turned-ally.
