The Hitman’s Bodyguard 2 (or The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard) is an American upcoming action comedy movie. The movie was directed by Patrick Hughes and was also written by Tom O’Connor, Brandom, and Philip Murphy.

The movie is a continuation of “The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017)”. It features Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L.Jackson, Salma Hayek who are reprising their role, then Frank Grillo, Richard E. Grant, Tom Hopper, Antonio Banderas, and Morgan Freeman.

Production

It was announced in May 2018, that the three major casts of the Hitman’s Bodyguard were in an early talk to make a reprise of their roles for the continuation of the Movie. The Hitman’s Bodyguard was now tittles The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, and plans for filming was to be made later in the year.

However, Lionsgate discussed with the United States right, and it was realized that Patrick Hughes will be returning in his directing work. Lionsgate collected the US rights from Millennium Films, in November 2018.

As Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon will be producing the movie through Millennium and Campbell Grobman Movies, while Hughes will still be the director and the movie script by Tom O’Connor.

In March 2019, Samuel, Reynolds, and Hayek officially signed to feature in the sequel. While in March 2019, as Richard E. Grand reprise his role from the original, Frank Grillo, Morgan Freeman, Antonio Banderas, and Tom Hopper joined as a new cast.

Filming

Filming of the movie began on March 2, 2019, in Europe. The filming took place in different locations like Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and the United Kingdom.

Release Date

The movie is  scheduled to be released on August 28, 2020
