Wizkid Biography

Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Wizkid was born on 16th of July 1990 in Surulere, a residential and commercial area of Lagos. The popular singer started recording music at the age of 11.

He also Released a collaborative album with a group he and his friends formed. Wizkid signed a record deal with Banky W’s Record label which is with Empire Mates Entertainment(EME). In 2010, he released his new song titled Holla at your Boy. His debut studio album includes Superstar, “Tease Me/Bad Guys”, “Don’t Dull“, Love My Baby“, “Pakurumo” and “Oluwa Lo Ni.

Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Drake on the global hit, “One Dance”. The one dance music reached number one in fifteen different countries which include United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.


US Governor, Mark Dayton Declares October 6 As “WIZKID Day”

Governor of Minnesota in the United State of America, Mark Dayton has officially declared October 6 of every year as WIZKID Day. The main reason for this is to honor Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun.

Some of his achievements include recently becoming the first African artist to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis, making a Billboard number one hit ‘One Dance’ with Drake, selling out the O2 Arena London, walking the runway with Dolce and Gabbana, winning international awards and many more.
